Henry Abbott

Henry Abbott has been assisting and advising the European Commission Hearing Officers for competition proceedings since 2013. His role focuses on safeguarding the effective exercise of procedural rights in antitrust and merger-control procedures before the European Commission Directorate-General for Competition.

From 2004 to 2013, he was a legal secretary ('référendaire') at the Court of Justice of the European Union in Luxembourg, where he worked on a wide variety of EU law matters, including several landmark competition cases.

Before that, he worked in private legal practice in Brussels and London, primarily in competition law. Prior to joining the law firm concerned, he completed a traineeship in the Directorate-General for Competition.

Qualified as a barrister in Ireland and as a solicitor in England and Wales, Henry obtained his primary law degree from University College, Dublin and pursued his post-graduate studies at King’s College, London.
